Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan (BEST), which is formerly known as Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan, is a non-profit association, established on April 28, 2001. The general objective of this society is to promote academic exchanges and scientific research in biotechnology and biochemical engineering and to boost collaboration between scientists in the academic and industrial sectors.

The major annual event organized by BEST is the BEST Conference. The first Conference on Biochemical Engineering was launched at National Tsing Hua University in 1996. From 2013, the name was changed to BEST Conference on Biotechnology and Bioengineering. The conference has been developed to be a key annual event for Taiwan colleagues and students working on the biochemical engineering and applied biotechnology. In 2015, the BEST Conference starts to run as an international symposium. The 22th BEST Conference & International Symposium on Biotechnology and Bioengineering is held in National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Yunlin , on June 23-24, 2017.

BEST is an institutional member of Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). As the collaborative partner of AFOB in Taiwan, the BEST has organized 2007 APBioChEC, which was transformed into Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) in 2011. The BEST also supported previous YABEC held in Taiwan. Both ACB and YABEC are major events of AFOB. The BEST keeps playing the active role in Asian biotechnology community.
